Sam Nyachwaya is a math and science educator who has worked in the greater Philadelphia area, delivering instruction in math, chemistry, physics and biological sciences in the Pennsylvania school districts of Norristown and Philadelphia. Schools attended include Kenyatta University (Nairobi), Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) and Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. The challenges facing inner-city schooling notwithstanding, there is compelling need to usher more high school students into career paths involving science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The nanotechnology venture is one way to access collegiate academic and research experience in the mentioned areas, the ideas of which can be translated into the high school set-up. This researcher’s additional interests include urban education, public health, and pharmaceutical sciences. Other unrelated areas are computer and broadcast engineering, media and market research.
